Which server do I need?

Five quick questions. We work out the CPU, memory and storage you need, then show the servers that fit, cheapest first.

About your project

  1. What will the server mainly do?
  2. How big is it?
  3. How much data will it store?
  4. Do you need ECC memory?
  5. Monthly budget

What you need

For
Websites and web apps
CPU
at least 16 threads
Memory
at least 64 GB
Fast storage
at least 400 GB usable NVMe (mirrored)

Every server includes unmetered 1 Gbit/s traffic, DDoS protection and full root access. Our recommendations are below; the team is happy to check your choice on chat.

Our recommendation

For websites and web apps of this size, the Ryzen 7 PRO 8700GE with 16 threads and 64 GB of ECC memory is the usual starting point. Compare all servers.

How we choose

Each answer sets a minimum: CPU threads and memory from the type and size of the project, fast NVMe or large hard disks from the amount of data, ECC memory where data integrity matters (databases, virtual machines and storage when you are not sure), and GPU memory for AI work. We then show the cheapest servers that meet every minimum, within your budget when possible.

The sizes are deliberately generous: a server that runs at 30 to 50% load on a normal day still has room for peaks, updates and growth. If you already know your exact needs, the VM sizing calculator and the LLM GPU memory calculator give more precise answers.

What every server includes

  • Unmetered traffic on a 1 Gbit/s port and DDoS protection
  • Full root or administrator access, with a rescue system and remote console
  • Mirrored NVMe for the system (RAID 1)
  • Monthly billing in US dollars, no minimum term

Questions

What if no server matches my answers?

Then you need either a larger custom build or two servers. Use the contact form or chat: we can add memory and disks to most servers and quote a custom configuration.

Do I need ECC memory?

ECC memory corrects single-bit errors before they reach your data. It matters for databases, ZFS storage and virtual machine hosts that run for months without a restart. For a game server or a VPN node it is optional.

Can I upgrade later?

Memory and disks can be added to many servers later. Moving to a bigger CPU means moving to a new server; we help with the migration.

Is the recommendation binding?

No. It is a starting point. Our team is happy to check your choice on chat before you order.
